The same manual is built into the add‑on: the control panel shows it under Developer → Add‑ons → MCP Server For EE → Manual, and the release zip carries it at its root as DOCUMENTATION.md. The add‑on's overview is at multimediality.com/add-ons/mcp-server-for-ee, its license at /license and its full change history at /changelog.
Requirements
- ExpressionEngine 7.2 or newer.
- PHP 8.2+ with the
opensslandfileinfoextensions (both standard on typical EE hosts;jsonis bundled into PHP core). The installer refuses to proceed if a required extension is missing. - A non‑empty
encryption_keyin your EE config (system/user/config/config.php). EE sets one on install; if yours is blank the add‑on refuses to create or rotate signing keys and tells you so in the control panel — it never falls back to a guessable key. - ExpressionEngine Pro is required only if you want members with multi‑factor authentication (MFA) to sign in — MFA support uses EE Pro's own machinery. Everything else works on standard EE.
- Composer is not needed to install. The release zip ships with all dependencies bundled.
